TRAINING PROGRAMME ON TAI LANGUAGE IN COLLABORATION WITH PURBANCHAL TAI SAHITYA SABHA

DIET Charaideo has always been committed to collaborating with various government institutions and non-governmental organisations to promote education and undertake activities beyond its regular academic programmes.

Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha, one of the leading literary organisations of Upper Assam, approached the Principal of DIET Charaideo, Mr. Biman Chandra Dutta, with a request to orient prospective D.El.Ed. candidates, particularly youths from the Ahom community, to promote the teaching and learning of the Tai language in schools where it may be offered as an optional subject.

Mr. Atul Phukon, President of Purbanchal Tai Sahitya Sabha, had approached the Director of SCERT, Assam, regarding the initiative. Subsequently, SCERT, Assam, suggested that the organisation contact DIET Charaideo to facilitate the programme.

Accordingly, Mr. Netra Gogoi, Senior Lecturer and Mr. Bhaskar Jyoti Das, Lecturer of DIET Charaideo was entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the two-day training programme on 18 and 19 June 2026.

The residential training programme was organised at the Tai Bhasa Academy, located within the campus of the headquarters of the Mohan-Deodhai-Bailung Sanmilan at Patsaku. Approximately 40 participants from the Ahom community, representing the districts of Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar and Charaideo, participated in the programme.

Through this collaborative initiative, DIET Charaideo reaffirmed its commitment to supporting educational and linguistic initiatives in collaboration with various organisations. The institute looks forward to extending similar academic support to other organisations in the future, subject to the submission of formal requests through the prescribed procedure and proper channel and with the approval of the competent authority.
