PIPLI: THE BRIDGE LANGUAGE RESOURCE MATERIAL BY DIET CHARAIDEO
On 15th October 2025, a bridge language resource material named PIPLI — a need-based product of DIET Charaideo, Sonari — was released by the Honourable District Commissioner of Charaideo District, Dr. Neha Yadav, IAS. The event was graced by ADC (Education) Sontrishna Gharphalia, ACS, and Asstt. Commissioner cum IS i/c, Rini Hazarika, ACS, along with BEEOs of Sivasagar District, the Principal and instructors of Basic Training Centre Sonari, resource persons of PIPLI, the Principal and all faculty members of DIET Charaideo, Sonari, and teacher participants from various educational blocks.
The inauguration programme was presided over by the Honourable Principal, DIET Charaideo, Mr. Biman Chandra Dutta. In a multilingual state like Assam, students often face linguistic challenges in classrooms due to a gap between their home language and the school language. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes the importance of imparting education at the elementary level in regional languages. In this context, bridge language materials like PIPLI play a crucial role in fostering communication, improving educational continuity, and enhancing integration among diverse linguistic communities.
Realizing this need, DIET Charaideo developed this resource book especially for tea garden area schools under the guidance of Mrs. Meena Saikia (Sr. Lecturer), Mr. Netra Gogoi (Sr. Lecturer), Runima Saikia Dutta (Sr. Lecturer), and Dr. Madhumita Chetia (Sr. Lecturer). Since most government schools in Charaideo district are located in tea garden areas where the majority of students belong to tea tribe communities, the language gap between home and classroom is particularly evident. PIPLI was developed to bridge that gap and promote smoother learning outcomes.
In her inaugural speech, Dr. Neha Yadav, IAS, highly appreciated this initiative, emphasizing the importance of bridge language materials for effective classroom transactions. She also suggested using this book as a pilot project in the targeted schools. In essence, PIPLI represents an initial effort to enhance the success rate of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) among learners and aligns closely with the objectives of the Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojona (PMCSPY).
