OBSERVANCE OF WORLD AIDS DAY 2025 AT DIET CHARAIDEO, SONARI

The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Charaideo, Sonari observed World AIDS Day on 1st December 2025 within its campus, in alignment with the global theme of the year, “Overcome Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response”. The observance was marked by a series of awareness-oriented and participatory activities involving the trainees of the institute.

As part of the programme, a poster competition was organized among the trainees during the pre-lunch session to promote awareness and understanding of HIV/AIDS. Following this, nine skits, each of 10 minutes duration, were performed in a lively manner by trainees from both semesters. The skits covered nine themes as prescribed by SCERT Assam, Jorhat Campus (Population Education Cell), effectively conveying key messages related to prevention, awareness, and social responsibility.

The day’s programme concluded with a short road march from the institute premises to the Sonari–Moran main road, during which hundreds of placards carrying messages on AIDS awareness were displayed. The road march was led by Shri Biman Chandra Dutta, Principal, DIET Charaideo, Sonari. On the occasion, he also delivered an informative and insightful address highlighting the significance of observing World AIDS Day and the collective responsibility of society in combating HIV/AIDS.

At the end of the programme, the participants of the poster competition and role-play activities were awarded certificates of appreciation in recognition of their active participation and contribution.

The entire programme was efficiently coordinated by Shri Netra Gogoi, Senior Lecturer. All other Senior Lecturers, Lecturers, and staff members of the institute extended their wholehearted cooperation to ensure the successful observance of the day.
