Celebration of Teachers’ Day

On the auspicious occasion of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the first Vice-President and second President of independent India, Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great respect and enthusiasm on 5th September 2026 at the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Charaideo, Sonari. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the respected Principal, Shri Biman Chandra Dutta. In his welcome address, he highlighted the life, journey, and remarkable contributions of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan as a distinguished teacher, philosopher, statesman, and visionary. He emphasized the important role of teachers in shaping the lives, values, and character of students and encouraged the trainees to uphold the ideals of knowledge, discipline, dedication, responsibility, and humanity in their future teaching profession. The inspiring and guiding speeches delivered by the respected teachers added great value to the programme and provided motivation and encouragement to everyone present. The objective of the programme was explained by trainee Chandra Changmai. As part of the celebration, the trainees of the institute presented a group song. Trainees Abhishek Saikia and Mousam Baruah also performed songs, while Diganta Tanti spoke on the significance and importance of Teachers’ Day. The programme was gracefully conducted by trainees Dipankar Gogoi and Rajshree Baruah. The celebration served as a meaningful occasion to honour the teaching profession and to inspire future educators to carry forward the values and ideals represented by Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
