International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET), Charaideo, Sonari observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among teacher trainees, faculty members, and staff about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of building a healthy and drug-free society. A major highlight of the programme was a thought-provoking drama titled “Uka Ghar”, performed by the trainees of the 2nd Semester. Through powerful acting and an engaging storyline, the drama vividly portrayed the devastating consequences of drug addiction on individuals, families, and society. The performance effectively conveyed the message that substance abuse not only destroys individual lives but also weakens the moral and social fabric of the community. The programme was successfully coordinated by Mr. Netra Gogoi, Senior Lecturer, Mr. Mondeep Chetia, Lecturer, and Mr. Naba Prasanna Boruah, Lecturer, DIET Charaideo. Their dedicated efforts contributed to the smooth and meaningful conduct of the programme. The observance concluded with a collective pledge to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and to encourage healthy lifestyles among students and the wider community. The programme served as an important platform for sensitizing future teachers about their role in preventing substance abuse, promoting responsible choices, and contributing towards the creation of a drug-free society through education and positive social action.
