Celebration of “International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking” – 2025

DIET, Charaideo, Sonari, observed the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on 26th June 2025 through a series of thoughtfully planned awareness activities aimed at fostering social responsibility among trainees and staff members.

The programme was formally inaugurated by Principal Biman Chandra Dutta. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the devastating effects of drug abuse on individuals and society. He also urged the trainees to contribute actively towards building awareness and supporting the Government's mission of achieving a “Nasha Mukt Bharat by 2047.”

The following activities were conducted during the programme:

  1. Morning Pledge: An anti-drug pledge was taken collectively during the morning assembly.
  2. E-Pledge Participation: Faculty and trainees participated in an online e-pledge campaign against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
  3. Awareness Rally: A rally was organized to spread awareness in the surrounding community about the dangers of drug abuse.
  4. Poster Making Competition: Trainees showcased their creativity through posters reflecting themes against drug abuse and illicit trafficking.
  5. Panel Discussion: A panel discussion involving senior lecturers, lecturers, and trainees was held to deliberate on the causes, impacts, and preventive measures related to drug abuse.

The programme created a powerful impact, motivating everyone to contribute towards a drug-free society. It also highlighted the importance of educational institutions in promoting awareness and social change.

The event was successfully coordinated by Mr. Bhaskar Jyoti Das, Lecturer, DIET, Charaideo, Sonari, whose efforts ensured the smooth execution of all activities and active participation of all stakeholders.
