The ‘Induction Training Program for Newly Recruited Teacher Educators’ of District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs), College of Teacher Education (CTEs), and Institutes of Advanced Studies in Education (IASEs) was organized by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Guwahati, from March 18th to 20th, 2025 at the International Guest House, AAU, Khanapara, Guwahati. Three faculty members of the institute namely, Dr. Prithu Baruah, Mrs. Priyanka Gogoi, and Dr. Swapnali Chetia attended the training program.

The programme was inaugurated by the Director, SCERT, Assam, who highlighted the significance of continuous professional development in the context of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. One of the key highlights of the programme was a special session conducted by Prof. Indu Kumar, a distinguished resource person from CIET-NCERT, New Delhi. Prof. Kumar provided deep insights into the changing role of DIETs and Teacher Training Institutions under NEP 2020.

Another key aspect of the training was a comprehensive session on the National Curricular Framework (NCF) 2023 and Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE). The sessions helped participants in understanding the fundamental principles and pedagogical shifts envisioned in NCF 2023, particularly in relation to ECCE, which is currently a significant focused area in early learning.

In addition, the trainees were engaged in insightful discussions on Leadership in Education and Educational Research. These sessions aimed at empowering teacher educators to take on leadership roles in academic planning and research.

Considering the pivotal role of teacher educators in designing effective training modules, a hands-on session was conducted on writing training programmes. Participants were given practical exposure to the structure, content, and methodology required for preparing meaningful and outcome-based training modules. Each participant was required to develop and submit a training programme as part of the practical component of the session.

The programme concluded with a valedictory session, during which participants reflected on their learnings and expressed their commitment to applying the knowledge gained during the training in their respective institutions.
